Let us celebrate the courage and conviction of our saints by attending mass and celebrating our saints by having an All Saint’s Day party. Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite saints. We will have a contest for the most accurate depiction of their saint. They should also be able to share one bit of information about their saint that made them want to choose them in the first place.

All Saint’s Day is Saturday, November 1st, which is a Holy Day of Obligation.

All Saints and All Souls comprise the two-day celebration of the Communion of Saints – those who are with God in heaven and those who are on their way to heaven. On the Solemnity of All Saints, November 1, the Church celebrates those Christians who achieved spiritual maturity. It is a day to venerate all the holy men and women who have been canonized by the Church. A day later, on the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day), the Church remembers and prays for the faithful departed: our brothers and sisters who have died marked with the sign of faith. Why Do Catholics celebrate All Souls Day?

The Church is composed of the faithful living upon the earth and those who have gone before us. The latter includes the Saints in Heaven and the faithful Souls being purified in Purgatory. Just as on November 1st we honor those who are with God, on November 2nd Catholics celebrate a Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. Also known as All Souls Day, on this day we honor them for their fidelity in life, as well as pray for them, since they are being purified before entering the All Holy Presence of God. QOTA will be hosting an Epiphany Celebration where our families and the community will be invited into the schoolhouse for a tour of the academy and we will be opening The Blessed Karl of Austria archive. Learn more about this wonderful project that has brought the Queen of the Apostles Preparatory Academy and The Blessed Karl initiative together in Middletown.

Catholic schools benefit all year long from the religious guidance, prayers and support parishes provide. Join us at the 11:00am mass at St. Sebastians Church to celebrate the start of National Catholic Schools Week. All students must wear uniforms with blazers or sweaters. Altar servers needed.

QOTA Celebrates Our Community

An important aspect of Catholic education is learning the importance of service to others. When students take part in service activities they demonstrate the values and faith gained through Catholic education. Please bring in a canned good for the local food pantry. QOTA Students and Faculty will also be packing bagged lunches for the homeless. High Schoolers will be writing thank you notes to the Sisters of the Eucharist for their wonderful experience at the March for Life.

QOTA values each and everyone of our students. Today will be a day filled with games and activities for team building and sharing the importance of seeing the good in one another.

QOTA Celebrates Our Nation

On National Appreciation Day for Catholic Schools, students, families, educators and other Catholic school supporters communicate the value of Catholic education to government leaders. Students will share their works of American literature, poetry, and art. Students are invited to dress up like their favorite president or first lady. There will be a contest for best costume (homemade).

INTRODUCTION

ORIGIN AND MEANING OF THE DOCUMENT

1. To speak of reconciliation and penance is for the men and women of our time an invitation to rediscover, translated into their own way of speaking, the very words with which our savior and teacher Jesus Christ began his preaching: "Repent, and believe in the Gospel,"(1) that is to say, accept the good news of love, of adoption as children of God and hence of brotherhood.

Why does the church put forward once more this subject and this invitation?

The concern to know better and to understand modern man and the contemporary world, to solve their puzzle and reveal their mystery, to discern the ferments of good and evil within them, has long caused many people to direct at man and the world a questioning gaze. It is the gaze of the historian and sociologist, philosopher and theologian, psychologist and humanist, poet and mystic: Above all, it is the gaze, anxious yet full of hope, of the pastor.

In an exemplary fashion this is shown on every page of the important pastoral constitution of the Second Vatican Council Gaudium et Spes on the church in the modern world, particularly in its wide-ranging and penetrating introduction. It is likewise shown in certain documents issued through the wisdom and charity of my esteemed predecessors, whose admirable pontificates were marked by the historic and prophetic event of that ecumenical council.

In common with others, the pastor too can discern among the various unfortunate characteristics of the world and of humanity in our time the existence of many deep and painful divisions.
